Pete Buttigieg

Pete Buttigieg is the Mayor of South Bend, Indiana. He was elected in 2011 at the age of 29, making him the youngest mayor of a city with over 100,000 residents in the U.S.
The Washington Post called him “the most interesting mayor you’ve never heard of" and he was named national Mayor of the Year by GovFresh.com in 2013. Buttigieg also serves as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserve and previously served in Afghanistan.

This Overheard taping is co-presented with The Texas Tribune Festival, running September 22-24 on The University of Texas at Austin campus. The event brings together 250 of the biggest names in politics and media to explore the state's — and nation's — most pressing issues. Program and tickets at texastribune.org/festival.
