Please join KLRU as Evan Smith interviews longtime Newsweek columnist Jonathan Alter for a taping of our new program, Overheard with Evan Smith. The taping takes place Saturday, October 16, at 2:45 pm in KLRU's Studio 6A (map). Doors will open at 2:15 pm. The event is free but an RSVP is required. RSVP on the form at the left.
This taping will be followed immediately by a taping with Writer Amanda Hesser. Guests who RSVP for the Alter taping are welcome to stay for the Hesser taping.
Alter has covered politics and the broader culture for more than two-decades, with a long-running role as contributing correspondent to NBC News, work as a best-selling author and a long list of awards. He joins us to discuss The Promise: President Obama, Year One, his new book about the beginning of Obama’s presidency. We’ll also look ahead, to the midterm elections and what the next two years might bring in Washington.
Overheard with Evan Smith updates the successful formula of our award-winning series Texas Monthly Talks: great conversation with fascinating people, always on the news and always with a sense of humor. The new show will bring you the same mix of guests from politics, the arts, literature, journalism, business, sports and more, and will be offered to PBS stations nationwide. We hope you’ll be there as we launch this exciting new program.
