Please join KLRU as Evan Smith interviews food writer Amanda Hesser for our new program Overheard with Evan Smith.  The taping takes place Saturday, October 16, at 3:45 pm in KLRU's Studio 6A (map).  Doors will open at 3:30 pm. The event is free but an RSVP is required. Please fill out the RSVP form to the left.

Hesser has written books, magazine articles and newspaper columns since the mid-1990s, earning legions of fans as well as the title “evil foodie darklord” from Gawker.  Hesser’s work includes two award-winning books, a long run at The New York Times and a popular series of columns mixing food writing with stories about her courtship with a man she called Mr. Latte (now her husband).  For the past five years, Hesser has been working on The Essential New York Times Cookbook, to be published this month.  She and a colleague have also recently launched the website food52, which focuses on home cooking.

Overheard with Evan Smith updates the successful formula of our award-winning series Texas Monthly Talks: great conversation with fascinating people, always on the news and always with a sense of humor. The new show will bring you the same mix of guests from politics, the arts, literature, journalism, business, sports and more, and will be offered to PBS stations nationwide.  We hope you’ll be there as we launch this exciting new program.
