Calvin Trillin has written countless words for The New Yorker, The Nation, Time and more than two dozen books.  His latest project is a book-length collection of pieces he’s written about Texas – a state he somehow seems to understand even better than the locals do. Seems strange, until you realize that the Kansas City-born Trillin has done the same in his articles about New York for more than forty years.

Overheard with Evan Smith updates the successful formula of our award-winning series Texas Monthly Talks - great conversation with fascinating people, always on the news and always with a sense of humor. The new show brings you the same mix of guests from politics, the arts, literature, journalism, business, sports and more, and is available to PBS stations nationwide.Overheard airs on KLRU at 7 p.m. Thursdays, 8:30 p.m. Fridays and 12:30 p.m. Sundays.
